Bio

I was born in the small town of Blackshear, GA. I attended South Georgia college, where I played softball and soccer and obtained an Associate's Degree in Journalism in 2004. Then, I went to Valdosta State University and earned my Bachelor's Degree in Art Education in 2007. Later, in 2012, I completed my Master's Degree through Valdosta State University online.

This is my 13th year teaching overall and my 7th year as a Feagin Mill Wolf! Go Wolves! I am married to Matt and we have two daughters, Cadyn (4) and Kelsey (2). Cadyn is very excited to be starting Pre-K this year! We also have two dogs, an American Bulldog named: Roxy and a Black Lab named: Chloe.

I have always been very interested in art. When I was little, my grandparents saved comic strips from newspapers for me. I enjoyed looking at them and trying to draw them. From there, my interest and ability improved over time and one day I realized that I wanted to not only share it with others by making artwork for them, but by teaching others how to make art and utilize it as an outlet. Art has many facets. Art can be for aesthetic appeal, but it can also evoke/portray emotion, make a statement, tell a story, etc. My goal is to teach students how to appreciate art, even if they don't like it visually; and to give them the basic tools they need to create successful pieces of artwork. I look forward to working with your students this school year! Please contact me if you have any questions!
